Our next WDC meeting will be this Sunday, October 26th at 8am… please note the time… 8am (one hour prior to the first service). We’ll spend the hour hearing some discipleship stories in an effort to keep us out “the box” and widen our palet for the different ways we can purposefully engage in discipling women.
Our focus this week is going to be on accountability. If discipleship is by definition following Christ and we as discplers are leading others closer to the heart of Jesus, then how do we include this most important practice of accountability?
The Bible is clear to show us how to build one another up in this way through Colossians 3:16: “Let the word of Christ dwell richly within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one anohter with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
Here’s the rub, we also live in a world now where being polite and socially correct has spilled over and we don’t want to get all up in each other’s business for fear of insult or injury.
So, how do you shepherd someone to reach higher in their journey with Jesus? How do you do it in a loving way because all things relational in the Kingdom of God must be underscored with love? How do you help someone press into going deeper in the word, in worship, or to work on a personal weakness or to overcome sin… without adding a heap of condemnation or guilt over them? How do we hold one another accountable in a loving edifying way?
Personally… I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Share them here in the comments, or we’ll see you on Sunday morning.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” ~ Hebrews 10:23-25
