I want to share with you something I am really excited about for Women’s Ministry this Fall. While our vision to cultivate a community of discipleship among women remains the same, our method for carrying it out will change slightly. Women’s Discipleship Community has been meeting for one year now. We’ve gained a lot of encouragement from various leaders in our midst, we’ve share our fears, our setbacks, our hopes and our successes with one another. But in view of the “simple life” and our need to streamline, we will no longer be holding WDC meetings.
Begining this Fall, we invite ALL women from KHC (and their lovely friends) to join us monthly for Refuge. Well almost monthly. We’ll skip October and January (because we’ll all be at the women’s retreat). Refuge is a time for all women to gather in worship, prayer, study and community. Sometimes we’ll do all of that, some times we’ll do some of that. But hopefully all the time, we will go deeper in the word. Go deeper with each other. Learn to love God well and therefore learn to love others well.
Refuge: That which shelters or protects from danger, distress or calamity; a strong hold which protects by its strength, or a sanctuary which secures safety by its sacredness; any place inaccessible to an enemy.
“This God – his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” ~ Psalm 18:30
By engaging in the word of the LORD, we affirm its sanctity and relevance in our lives. We take our refuge in the One true God, approaching Him with a sense of awe, appreciating that we stand in the presence of something holy realizing we will be transformed. There will be worship, study, joy among women and tools for you to practice the art of discipleship.
