Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Summer is ending, school is beginning. It is the rhythm of life if you have children or are an educator. As much as I enjoy summer I also enjoy the beginning of school. It makes everything feel like it will all be alright. As the earth goes begins the autumn season I feel like it is the start of a new year.
I would like to share with you my prayer, my personal prayer, and be really vulnerable because now you all will know what I am praying or am supposed to be praying if I miss a day. This is how I begin each school year, with a healthy dose of “Oh my God I cannot do my job alone!” This year I would like to include all the teachers – at home, in public schools, in private schools – wherever you might be but most especially if other people entrust their most treasured possession to you to learn.
Oh God, please help!
As we try to live out the fruits of the Spirit, no matter what happens, no excuses
Oh God please help!
We want to see our students through your eyes of compassion and grace
Our students have dreams and ideas, things they want to achieve
Please help us be the support they need to become all You have made them to be
As parents look to us for answers that we don’t have about their child
Kids can be so cruel to each other, even if they were raised to be nice. Be with us as we help them learn to be part of a caring and compassionate community
As we make our plans help us leave room for You to move, or even take over
Be with us Lord as we work with other educators who may or may not also be Christians. Help us to be flexible and open to new ideas and to give 100% with a great attitude and smile
Remind us that we don’t know everything, but be gentle with us please
Oh God, please touch the hearts of each and every one of our students. May they experience the love of Jesus in this one short school year they are with us.
Oh God please help!
