Control was freely surrendered. You now take commands without question. Time spent with family was given up. Security, entitlement, individuality – now secondary ambitions. Not self, but country. What the future would hold, you knew not, but you offered it so others may live. Always faithful. Always loyal. Always ready. Always there. Sacrifice instead of security. Courage over hiding. What you gave was great. You gave so we might keep. Not self… never self. We keep freedom, safety, family, security, time… all because of you.
You are the veteran. And we thank you.
Christian, freely surrender control! Let us all obey without question. Put aside hopes and dreams forever in favor for those far beyond your greatest imagination. Security, entitlement, individuality – things of this World. Not self, but Heavenly Kingdom. The future you know not, but may it be laid down so others may live. Be always ready (1 Peter 3:15). Be always there.
Stand. And when you have given all and you have nothing but tired tears rolling down beaten cheeks… stand. (1 Corinthians 16:13)
Jesus, You gave what was great. You gave so we might keep. Life, hope, freedom, forgiveness, relationship – we embrace, because you gave. You are always faithful. You are always loyal.
Jesus, You are God. And we thank You.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with you God. Micah 6:8
