My beautiful dear friend was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer right after Christmas. She is having surgery tomorrow, and having walked alongside her through this, I have been encouraged and convicted by her strength. She has given it to the Lord and is a fighter. She has two young children and I am in awe in the peace and courage that she has carried throughout the entire process. I know there are many women out there who have experienced this personally or as a friend. There are no words to describe the pain a woman endures going through something like this. Today as I pray for my friend my heart breaks! She is my angel.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the Peace of God which transcends all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Her Beauty is His Beauty
She walks slowly, her toes in the sand. She looks to the horizon and folds her hands
Lord, you are greater than this, take it away. Guide the doctors as they cut out the cancer, she prays.
The salt air fills her lungs and blows her hair. No, it is the smell of the hospital, this is not fair.
She clings to the words she had so recently shared. God will pull us through this, her children just stared.
Her husband squeezed her hand as the warm rush flowed in. “It’s time,” the doctors said, “We need to begin.”
A double mastectomy at the age of 40, how? All that seemed important before has vanished somehow.
A warm tear slid down her cheek. She recites her verse of the past few weeks.
“I will never leave you or forsake you.”
She can feel His presence as she closes her eyes. Today her beauty will change as a part of her will die.
But she has Peace, she will fight. He is her fortress and His beauty is her light…
