GIVE-AWAY!!! What We’re Into: Vacations

Congratulations on last month’s winner, Christine Myers, who shared with us her outgrown fear! Thank you to all who participated in the building of our community.

What We're Into

The question this month: What is your favorite vacation destination? We answer the question and if YOU answer the question you have a chance to win a prize! This month you have the opportunity to not win one prize, but THREE! Should you choose to share with us YOUR favorite vacation destination, you enter the chance to win a small zipper bag for yourself, one for a friend, and one for someone you don’t know very well. You may comment below or to Facebook’s link. A winner will be chosen at random on Monday, August 4th at 6:30am.

Janna SaavedraJanna: I am easy to please (don’t tell my husband I just said that) but to me vacations are a break from the everyday, so my favorite vacation spots include, but are not limited to: Taco Bell, anywhere there is free WiFi for writing and a playground for children, I Love Lucy, the couch, a date night with the husband, and a clothing store with the husband’s blessing.

Joy SteeJoy, the Canadian:  Favourite vacation destination is Malaysia – a beautiful Island there with white sand, turquoise water, lovely simple food and beautiful people. I actually had a hard time with that question as I thought of my Muskoka chair (which is Canadian for Adirondack) and the dock at my in-laws cottage on a beautiful Lake in Ontario… which is a pretty close second.

Lisa AthanLisa: I have to be honest and say that my favorite vacation destination is…. Las Vegas.  Mark and I have been going there for over 22 years.  We have a favorite hotel we stay at and a favorite restaurants as well.  Mark, the girls and I love to sit by the pool in the warm weather, drink ice-teas and people watch.  In fact, we even have favorite waiters at the restaurant.  We see them every year and love talking to them.  Their names are Rick and Paul.  We will be going this summer and I can hardly wait. (and of course the girls and I shop a little.

Michelle MahlstadtMichelle: My favorite vacation destination is unknown. Before I travelled to Cuba, I thought it would be Cuba. Same thing for Ireland. Maybe Paris would be different. I don’t know, I haven’t been there. I’m looking for that one destination that will take my breath away, that will be absolute magic.

Paula GoochPaula:  I have driven (more like ridden) across the country to both Maine and Florida.  I’ve visited Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, the Smoky Mountains, the Painted Dessert.  I’ve experienced the Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf coasts.  I’ve seen the Liberty Bell, the US Capital, the White House, Abraham Lincoln’s home and library, the Washington Monument, Mount Vernon, Dealey Plaza, and more state capitals, president’s homes, and museums than I care to mention.  However, though I’ve been on many adventures over the years (and would love to partake in many more), my favorite vacation destination is anywhere  with my family! Oh and by the way, my mom is the best travel agent around (though I might be a little bias)! 🙂

Suzie LindSuzie: My favorite vacation spot is Carlsbad 🙂  Close by, but far enough away. A lot of good eats, a great beach and plenty of inspiration.

Victory LudwigVictory: I’m headed to Maui in July to celebrate my hubby’s 40th birthday, and while I will relish every moment on the beach with a book in my hand, I still can’t claim that this is my favorite spot.  I have to say that my favorite week of the whole year, and that of each of our family members, is the week we spend in Yosemite. There is something about putting city (suburb) kids into nature.  The air, the sounds, the dirt, the wildlife.  I love how tired we are at the end of each full day.  I love family bike rides, days at the river, and creating memories and traditions.  Not to mention, the beauty that surrounds us causes us to pause and consider our amazingly generous Creator.

So how about you? What’s YOUR favorite vacation destination?

  1. My favorite vacation spot is anywhere that you can get away and have quality time and get away from the things of everyday life as a mother! Life can be demanding so vacation of any type is welcomed! I heard a mother once say, “Just let me go anywhere!” But my faves are Mammoth in the summer, Lake Arrowhead, and if finances permit, Maui, with all the beautiful beaches and excessive water sporting community. Vacations are all about quality time for me.:)

  2. My husband and I aren’t able to get away much, but we frequently take dinner down to Avenue I in Fridays after work and eat dinner sitting on the wall, enjoying the fresh sea air and sunset. It’s not some lavish getaway, but it’s a mini reward at the end of week and time to enjoy the beautiful ocean, beach and each other.

  3. Since my husband works all weekends and I work during the week, we don’t have the opportunity to go many places but usually once a year we go to my tiny hometown in Northern California. The reason it’s my favorite is not because of the beautiful lake we’re surrounded by, or the bright stars that shine at night, but rather the ones who make it special, my family. Seeing my girls play with their cousins and spending time with my sister and Mom is priceless.

  4. The best vacation I have ever taken was to the San Juan Island off the coast of Washington. We stayed in Friday Harbor but you can take a ferry easily to all the little islands. We saw Orca whales offshore and watched a bald eagle fly across the treetops. We also took a little side trip to Victoria BC, that was beautiful, especially the Buchart Gardens.

    1. Lynn – I find it quite interesting that you mentioned Victoria, BC because I just returned home from a vacation where we enjoyed a ferry ride to Victoria and got to see the Butchart Gardens! It is so beautiful!
And my sister randomly discovered a “Gooch Island” on the map (between Victoria and Washington), so we looked for it on our ferry ride back to WA! 🙂

  5. Thank you for all those who entered our drawing this month and shared your favorite vacation destination! The prize goes to Cindy Rimmer, who commented via Facebook. Congratulations, Cindy! Come back at the end of this month for the next “What We’re Into” drawing.
